Falcons host three games in six days
The Air Force women's soccer team hosts three home matches this week in a span of six days. The Falcons take on Northern Colorado this Tuesday, Oct. 9, San Diego State on Friday, Oct. 12 and Wyoming on Sunday, Oct. 14.

Last Week
Air Force opened Mountain West Conference play with a 3-1 loss at TCU last Saturday. Junior Corbin Sanford notched AFA's lone goal on a penalty kick.

Wyoming defeated Northern Colorado 3-0 in both teams' lone match last week.

San Diego State lost, 5-1, to #2 UCLA and defeated Cal State Bakersfield 3-0 last week.

Streaks
Air Force and Northern Colorado have two-game losing streaks. San Diego State and Wyoming have one-game winning streaks.

Last Meeting
Air Force lost 1-0 at Northern Colorado last year in Greeley. The two teams were originally slated to play on Sept. 5 at the Academy, but the game was postponed due to unplayable field conditions caused by lightning, wind and rain.

 

 

Air Force tied SDSU 2-2 at San Diego last year and lost 3-1 at Wyoming.

Air Force-Opponent Ties
Air Force senior Rhett Chase is a native of Coronado, located in the greater-San Diego area, and attended Coronado high school.

San Diego State's Millie Allen (Thornton), Alicia Piz (Morrison) and Brooke Holliday (Centennial) are Colorado natives.

Wyoming has 14 players on its roster from Colorado. Emily Layton of Wyoming is a Colorado Springs native and attended Palmer high school. Laine Hubbard is a Monument native and attended Lewis-Palmer high school.

Coaches
Air Force is coached by Marty Buckley (Chico State, 1978) who is 110-174-19 in his 16th season at the Academy.

Northern Colorado is coached by Tim Barrera (Virginia Tech, 1986) who is 75-57-7 in his eighth year.

San Diego State is coached by Mike Friesen (Sonoma State, 1996), who is in his first year at the helm of the Aztecs.

Wyoming is coached by Anne Moore (North Carolina State, 1993), who is 59-87-17 in her ninth year.

Series History
Air Force is 4-4-0 all-time against Northern Colorado. Air Force and UNC first played in 1992, a 2-1 Bears win at the Academy.

Air Force is 1-9-1 all-time against San Diego State. The two teams first played each other in 1993 in a 4-0 Aztec win in San Diego.

Air Force is 6-5-0 all-time against Wyoming. The two teams first played each other in 1996, a 2-1 Air Force win at the Academy.

Air Force Team Leaders
Junior Rachael Emory leads the team with five points on two goals and an assist. Senior Katherine Slogic is tied with Emory for the team-lead with two goals. Junior Erin Wallace has started eight games at goalkeeper for the Falcons. Wallace has a 0.89 Goals Allowed Average to go with 24 saves in 812 minutes.

Scouting The Opponents
Northern Colorado enters the week witha 3-6-1 record. Sophomore forward Jessica Zimmerman leads the team with two goals and an assist for five points. Freshman Heidi Owen has started seven games in front of the net for UNC and has a 1.61 GAA to go with 28 saves.

San Diego State enters the week with a 5-5-2 record. Senior forward Jackie Ragudos leads the Aztecs with four goals and three assists for 11 points. Freshman Aubree Southwick has started all 12 games for SDSU at goalkeeper and has a 1.11 GAA to go with 66 saves and five shutouts.

Wyoming enters the weekend with a 5-6-0 record. Junior forward Tamika Wilson leads the team with six goals and two assists for 14 points. Ashley Sheppard has started five games for the Cowgirls at goalkeeper and have a 1.80 GAA to go with 26 saves in 450 minutes.

Air Force plays at Utah on Thursday, Oct. 18 and plays host to undefeated BYU on Saturday, Oct. 20.
