Nick Cukar scored the game's only goal in the 37th minute and Richard Mann posted his second shutout of the season Sunday to lead the San Jose State men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Air Force at Cadet Soccer Stadium. With the victory, San Jose State improved to 6-5-4 overall and 2-4-1 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, while the Falcons fell to 4-11 overall and 2-5 in league play following their final home game of the season.

Cukar took a pass from Hiroki Akiyama and made a run down the left side of the field, even with Falcon defender Eric Wilson. Just inside the goalie box he got past Wilson and slid a shot past Falcon goalie Jim Gullo from about eight yards out. It was Cukar's fifth goal of the season.

Air Force had a couple of great scoring chances in the first half. Junior Kevin Rosser fired a rocket from 15 yards out that SJSU goalie Richard Mann saved, then on the ensuing corner kick, Mann made a diving save off a header from junior Steve Noller. Mann finished the game with six saves, while Gullo had five for Air Force.

The Spartans outshot Air Force 13-9 overall, but shots on goal were even at six apiece. Noller led the Falcons with two shots on goal.

Air Force seniors Jason Dall and Reid Gaiser were honored in a pre-game ceremony for their four years of service to the Falcon program.

The Falcons head north for a game at the University of Denver next Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m.
