Air Force Gymnastics to Host Blue-Silver Intrasquad on Dec. 6

Nov. 17, 2008

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force men's and women's gymnastics teams will host a Blue-Silver intrasquad meet on Saturday, Dec. 6. The meet, which will feature the men and women competing together at Cadet West Gym for the first time, is slated to begin at 3 p.m.

The men's team, who are led by fourth-year coach Kip Simons and senior co-captains Josiah Loeser and Jacob Schonig, features a strong returning lineup that includes four participants from last year's NCAA Championships. The Falcons also return junior Garrett Canter, who holds the Academy's pommel horse record.

The women's program is guided by third-year coach Doug Day and senior captain Abigail Rogers, who was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Year as a junior. Three returning USAG All-Americans highlight the roster, as well as four that saw action the NCAA Regional Championships.

Both programs officially open the season in early January at the Academy. The women will host Eau Claire and Wisconsin-La Crosse during the Air Force Triangular on Friday, Jan. 9, while the men host the annual Rocky Mountain Open on Saturday, Jan. 10.
