The Mtn. Partners with AFN American Forces Network

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mtn. - MountainWest Sports Network - has partnered with AFN American Forces Network to bring Mountain West Conference (MWC) game telecasts to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces serving throughout the world and on the seas. The first MWC athletic event produced by The Mtn. to air on AFN is slated for Saturday, January 5 when the Air Force men's basketball team travels to Salt Lake City to take on the University of Utah Utes. "The Mtn. is honored that we were approached by AFN to carry select games from our live event lineup," said Kim Carver, vice president and general manager of The Mtn. "This is a great opportunity for us to showcase the The Mtn. and the Mountain West Conference to the nearly one million men and women stationed overseas, and we are pleased to be able to provide them with exciting sports programming from home." Added AFN Television Division Chief Larry Marotta: "The Mtn. programming increases our ability to provide our worldwide American Forces Network audience with the best sports coverage from back home. We are delighted by the generosity of the MountainWest Sports Network and proudly welcome their excellent programs to our showcase of American television." The Department of Defense operates AFN, a worldwide radio and television broadcast network, which serves nearly one million American service men and women, Department of Defense civilians and their families overseas stationed at bases in 177 countries, as well as US Navy ships at sea. At present time, AFN is slated to carry the following MWC men's basketball games on AFN: Air Force at Utah (tape delay) on January 5; Colorado State at BYU (tape delay) on January 12; and Utah at SDSU (live) on January 16.
